The Fool's Journey
The spiritual evolution story told by Major Arcana cards from 0 to 21. This archetypal journey from Innocence to Enlightenment is a metaphor for life itself.
What is The Fool's Journey?
The Fool's Journey is an interpretive approach that reads the Major Arcana in order as the story of a person's development. Its hero is card 0, The Fool: an inexperienced but curious traveller who meets a new teacher or test in each card from 1 to 21. The Fool learns will from The Magician, intuition from The High Priestess, letting go from Death, upheaval from The Tower and hope from The Star, completing a cycle at The World (21). A layout often used in teaching arranges the 21 cards in three rows of seven, roughly describing meeting the outer world, turning inward and spiritual integration. A Major Arcana card in a spread can be read by asking which stage of the journey the person is at. A common misconception is that The Fool means foolishness; traditionally it symbolises a new beginning and a willingness to take risks. You can read the Major Arcana with your own question in a tarot reading on Faltastik.
