Sun
The Sun is the centre of the natal chart: your core identity, sense of purpose and the energy you bring to life. It is what most people mean by their star sign.
- identity
- vitality
- purpose
- will
- self-expression
In the birth chart
Your Sun sign describes how you want to shine and what makes you feel most like yourself. The house it falls in shows the area of life where you seek recognition and purpose.
Strengths
A well-expressed Sun brings confidence, warmth, creativity and generosity. It gives you a sense of direction and the courage to be visible.
Shadow side
When the Sun is overplayed it can show up as pride, self-centredness or a need to dominate. When underplayed, it can feel like doubt about your own worth.
Rulership and rhythm
The Sun rules Leo and is linked to the 5th house of creativity and joy. It spends about a month in each sign, which is why Sun sign dates are fairly stable from year to year.
