In the birth chart
Motivation, desire and the way you express anger all take their style from your Mars sign. By house, it points to the area where you push hardest.
Strengths
At its best, Mars gives courage, energy, decisiveness, passion and competitive stamina.
Shadow side
Unchecked, Mars can turn into impatience, aggression, recklessness or a quick temper. Channelling it into movement and clear goals keeps it constructive.
Rulership and rhythm
Aries is Mars's own sign, Scorpio its traditional second home, and the 1st house its natural place. It usually spends six to seven weeks in a sign, and much longer, up to about seven months, in a retrograde year.
