North Node (Rahu)

North Node (Rahu) is the point where the Moon's orbit crosses the ecliptic plane from south to north. Shows the direction of our spiritual evolution, life purpose, and growth area.

What is the North Node (Rahu)?

The North Node is the point where the Moon's orbit crosses the ecliptic, the Sun's apparent path through the sky, moving from south to north. The point directly opposite is the South Node, and together they are the lunar nodes, known in Indian astrology as Rahu and Ketu. The nodes move backward through the zodiac, spend about a year and a half in each sign and complete a circuit in about 18.6 years. Eclipses happen when the Sun is near them. In modern Western astrology the North Node describes the direction a person is called to grow in, while the South Node describes familiar habits that come easily. A reading looks at the sign and house pair of the nodes together. A common misconception is that the South Node is entirely negative; it also shows real talents, and the point is only that staying there too long slows growth. You can see the signs and houses of your lunar nodes by creating your birth chart on Faltastik.
